A huge thank you to everyone who attended our Meet the Teacher evening last night! If you missed the event, feel free to check out our website for information.
Our Terry Fox Run on Tuesday was a big success. Although money is still trickling in, we are happy to report that Simon Fraser raised over $650 for this worthy cause!

Inform| Volunteers Welcome
We welcome volunteers on field trips and with certain tasks at school or at home. Certain activities or field trips would not be possible without the active participation of our volunteers. As a CBE volunteer, you are placed in a position of trust with students, staff or property. All adult volunteers require a valid security clearance - no exceptions.
Volunteer Security Clearance Process
Step 1: Prospective volunteers can first register as a volunteer on SchoolEngage through your MyCBE/PowerSchool Account. School administrators will verify your identity and register you in the CBE volunteer database. The school office will email you a letter enabling you to obtain a police information check with the Calgary Police Service (CPS).
Please note, prospective volunteers must reside in Canada for a full year before registering.
Police clearances from countries other than Canada are not accepted.
Step 2: Visit the CPS online system, electronic Police Information Check (ePIC), to obtain your police check using your CBE volunteer letter.
If you are unable to complete the process online, you may visit a police information check location instead.
Step 3: Once you have received your clearance document back from CPS you will need to share it with the school in-person or by email so we can complete the process in our system. You have 90 days to do this, or you will be required to start the clearance process again from the start.
Invite| School Council Meeting
Our first School Council Meeting will be held on Monday September 23, 2024, at 6:30 pm in the Simon Fraser School Learning Commons. This meeting is the Annual General Meeting. We hope that families consider joining us. It is so important to have parental voices as part of our decision making throughout the year.
Request| Demographic and Media Release Forms
Demographic, Citizenship and Annual Authorization are found in your MyCBE/PowerSchool account in SchoolEngage. Please prioritize the review and approval of these forms. These show up on the first day of school. If families do not approve the media release, your child’s picture will not be displayed in the yearbook.
Inform| Brentwood Community Garden Communication
We recently experienced some vandalism and theft at the community garden.
Community gardeners grow vegetables for their own consumption, and are understandably frustrated to find their tomatoes stolen, or carrots pulled out and thrown around the garden enclosure. Please take a moment and remind your child that the Community Garden is not a place for their recreation or veggie browsing.
Inform| Complementary Course Fees
Please be aware that grade 7 to 9 complementary course fees will be added to MyCBE accounts in the coming weeks.
Inform| Grade 5 & 6 Lunch Room Supervision Fee
Families of students staying at school during the lunch period are required to pay a annual lunch supervision fee. Lunch supervision services provide participating students with supervision while they are eating and during lunch activities. Revenue from this fee is used to hire lunchroom supervisors. You can pay using your MyCBE account. Additional information is available through this LINK.
