During this time, it is important that you exercise both your brain and your body. Now is a great time to try something you haven’t tried before. From hiking to biking and everything in between, there is something for everyone!

Ongoing Learning Websites for Students 

  • Calgary Public Library | Tumblebook Library. Listen and read-along to animated story books for young children, their parents, and teachers. Play games and watch videos from National Geographic. Includes a selection of French picture books. Access with library card number and PIN.
  • Calgary Public Library | Kids. An online collection of eBooks, enhanced novels, graphic novels, videos, and audiobooks, which offers students and adults of all reading levels access to an amazing range of content. Access with library card number and PIN.
  • The Fable Cottage. Bilingual tales for language learners. Traditional stories lovingly retold in modern language. Recorded by native speakers, slowly and clearly.
  • Raz-Kids. Leveled books for young readers (fees apply). 
  • +Plus Maths. University of Cambridge free online math magazine aimed at older students and adults. 
  • Grade Level and CEMS Resources. Math for Grades 3-12.
  • Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners from grades K-12 to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom.
  • Interactive Mathematics Glossary 
  • National Geographic Kids: explore videos, pictures, books and magazines to learn about animals, environment, history, people, places, and science from around the world. Suitable for K-12.
  • Smithsonian Museum. The world’s largest museum, education, and research complex, with 19 museums and the National Zoo. They have developed a special section under "For Kids and Teens" with fun activities to do online.
  • ACS Chemistry for Life. Student programs, resources, experiments and games exploring Chemistry for Grades K-12. 
  • Bill Nye the Science Guy: Experiments you can do at home for Grades K-12.
  • Brains On! Universe. A science podcast for kids and curious adults.
  • NASA K-12 Learning Resources: Space and science related activities divided by grade ranges K-12
  • Science News Explores posts both shorter news stories and longer features, all written with a vocabulary and sentence structure aimed at readers Grades 3-9.
