Dear Simon Fraser Families 

Providing a learning environment where all students can feel successful in learning will continue to be the focus of our continuous improvement. Today’s professional learning day had staff reviewing and analyzing data that has been collected for each child last year and this year in mathematics, literacy, and well-being. Putting each child’s learning strengths and areas for support at the forefront of our task design and instructional support.

Parent-Teacher Conferences - Parent Engagement 

We want to thank the many parents that have already completed the survey. Please take 5 seconds to respond if you can.  As we get closer to our Parent-Teacher conferences on November 23rd and 24th, we want to get as many families as possible to support the decision around the format for the meetings. Last year, we offered a blend of in-person and online conferences and wanted to know if our approach matches the preferences of families. Please indicate your family's preference on the survey below.

CBE Consent Form 

In your MyCBE Account on SchoolEngage there are CBE Consent Forms which allow your child's name and photo to be in the yearbook. If you leave this blank, we take this as a no.  

If you are unable to find your forms you can send an email to Ms. Casagranda (accasagranda@cbe.ab.ca) giving consent, and we can update it at our end.  

Fun Lunch 

Healthy Hunger is back! Families must order by midnight the Friday before the fun lunch. We want to thank School Council and Ms. Rita Samari for organizing and supporting the fun lunches.  

The Fun Lunch Opportunities will be in Healthy Hunger for families to purchase for their child(ren).  We will have a weekly Fun Lunch every Wednesday. Reminder that if you order a fun lunch and your child is sick/away, please call or email us before 12:00 to let us know what you would like us to do with the lunch. If we have not heard from a family, we will donate the lunch to another child who may not have lunch.

• Create an Account (or Login) 
• Click “Add Student” 
• Fill in your child’s information  
• Select Simon Fraser School 
• For “Select Grade” you will choose your child’s homeroom/teacher 

You can begin ordering food by date.

Individual Program Plans (IPPs) 

Student individual program plans went home on Monday October 16. Please review and sign.  If families would like to amend the IPP (Individual Program Plan) in any way, please reach out to lojohnson@cbe.ab.ca and we will facilitate a meeting with your child’s teaching team. 

Have a wonderful weekend as a family.  Reminder that next week the weather takes a significant change....snow!!!  Students will still be heading outside for some fresh air. We look forward to welcoming your children back for a full week of learning next week.
