Inform| International Baccalaureate Program
Grade 9 students designated to John G. Diefenbaker High School and Sir Winston Churchill High School can express their interest in the IB Program at their school without applying for a transfer.
Please follow the steps on this website to complete the Expression Of Interest form and stop after completing Step 4. The course selection form is a different one than the regular program.
Students designated to a different high school (not JGDHS or SWCHS) will follow the pathway at this website and follow through with step 5 (applying for a transfer of high schools) in order to transfer to their designated IB high school.
Please have your child see Ms. Johnson if they are interested.
Remind| School Hours
We would like to remind parents/guardians that students are required to be in class and ready to learn for 7:55 am and 12:43 pm. We have a few students who are consistently late and cause class disruptions. If you know your child is going to be late or absent, please call the office attendance line and leave a message.
Inform| Focus of Kindness
This month our school will focus on growing kindness as a school community. As a school we recognize four branches of kindness that guide our work:
- Kind to Self
 - Kind to Others
 - Kind to this Place
 - Kind to the Land

We encourage you to talk as a family about the ways that you can grow kindness through these four branches. How will you show kindness to self, others, places and the land?
Please know that staff are on the lookout for individuals exemplifying kindness and students may be recognized for their efforts!
Update| Athletics
The wrestling season has now concluded. Congratulations to all wrestlers who practiced and competed at tournaments and divisional meets. Once again, this small but mighty crew represented our Flames community with pride. A special thank you to Coach Pikal, Coach Payne and Coach Parkkari for working with student-athletes this season. Without your time and dedication, these opportunities would not be possible.
As our volleyball season gets underway we want to remind our school community that students are NOT allowed to spectate at any away games at other schools unless they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Students who arrive at schools without a parent/guardian present will not be allowed to stay at the game. The same goes for students from other schools who come to Simon Fraser expecting to watch games – they will not be allowed to stay unless they have a parent/guardian with them.
Simon Fraser students are welcome to attend and positively support our volleyball teams at home games.
Remind| Grade 7-9 School Supplies
As semester two begins, please ensure that your child has the necessary supplies needed for their coursework.
Remind| Transportation:
With cold weather returning, please make a habit of checking that your child(ren)'s bus is running on time.
Fenton Bus Lines has a bus app to help families monitor their child’s bus route. The app is called “Bus Status 4”. Download the app and select “Fenton Bus Lines.” This company is responsible for routes K & L.
All other routes are handled by Southland, please refer to www.myschoolbusmonitor.comevery morning to make sure your child/ren’s bus is on time and has no delays. If you do not remember your child’s bus number, you can look on your MyCBE/PowerSchool account --> Bus Routes and stops, Route.
