Principal Update: May 30, 2025
|
Dear Simon Fraser Families, We have had a very busy week with field trips, many opportunties to take our learning outside, and our first two Provincial Achievement Tests. Please see this week's update for important news and reminders. Remind| Transportation Registration is Now Open Families are now able to register for school bus service for the 2025-2026 school year. Registration is available using your MyCBE account. Families must register by Sunday, June 22, 2025 for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year. Registrations will be accepted after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing bus stop with available space. Processing times for registrations submitted after the June 22 deadline will be delayed. Confirmed routes are posted in late August. For those who register after the June 22 deadline, it may take until mid-October before your child is able to ride the bus. Transportation can be cancelled with no financial impact by submitting the cancellation form by Sept. 30, 2025. Invite | Spring Concert On Wednesday, June 4 at 6pm you are invited to join us for the Simon Fraser School Spring Band Concert. Our performance will take place in the gym. The program will feature our Grade 7, Grade 8, and Grade 9 Concert Bands as well as the Simon Fraser Jazz Band. Come spend a musical evening celebrating the achievements of our school musicians. In recognition of Pride Month, CBE will be:
As a school we work to honour and recognize our school community throughout the school year with events such as Orange Shirt Day, Pink Shirt Day, and celebrating cultural heritage for the month of May. June is Pride Month Internationally, a time to recognize the pursuit of equality and rights for 2SLGBTQ+ individuals. The CBE is committed to safe and caring learning and work environments for 2SLGBTQ+ students and staff. We acknowledge that each family and community have unique experiences with different recognitions and celebrations, and any commemorative activities in our schools may be perceived differently. Classroom-based activities and lessons that promote diversity and inclusion are not subject to exemptions as they are in alignment with the Education Act. Remind| Snacks We continue to see many students coming to the office each day to request snacks. Our supplies often run out before we can feed all students. Please help us by reminding your child(ren) to pack enough food for the day. Many older students go off campus to purchase lunch and forget to bring a snack with them for morning break. Dates of Significance
Have a wonderful weekend with your children. Kirsten |
