Update| Athletics News
Wrestling season is upon us! There is a student meeting on Monday, October 28th after school on the stage for all interested students. The first practice takes place on Monday, November 4th from 2:45 - 4:00 and will run every Monday and Thursday after that. More information to come regarding fees and competition dates.
Remind| Traffic Safety
As the days are getting shorter and darker, we are noticing that students are more at risk when crossing the roads around the school. Please be sure to follow all traffic laws and regulations including:
- No parking in the bus zone
 - No U-turns
 - Be aware of crosswalks and people crossing the road
 - Do not enter the staff parking lot

Thank you for your support to keep our students and community safe.
Reminder| School Initiatives
Leadership 9 is running a Fall Food Drive in support of The Calgary Food Bank and Veterans Food Bank of Alberta. Students are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items (canned goods, packaged foods, granola bars, cereals, etc.) and other new household items (cleaning supplies, diapers, feminine hygiene products, pet food/supplies). Donations will be accepted until November 7th.
Jacket Racket is an organization that collects winter clothing and donates it to families in need. We are asking students to bring gently used and washed winter gear to help support this cause.
Examples of what you can contribute:

Reminder| Winter is Coming!
Calgary’s weather can include snow, cold temperatures and wind chill and that makes getting to and from school challenging. Families are reminded to prepare and take extra caution during the winter months and periods of extreme weather.
Please note, CBE Schools Rarely Close Due to Snow or Cold Temperatures
All CBE schools will remain open to provide a safe, warm and secure environment for students. Even with adverse weather conditions, assume that schools are open unless you hear otherwise from your school. Information regarding any school closures due to weather will be posted on the CBE websites and social media, and shared with local news media.
Be Prepared
Families should ensure they are prepared for all weather conditions. Children should be well prepared and dressed for the weather. Students will continue to be expected to go outdoors during the day (PE classes and lunch hour) unless temperatures reach -20 Celsius or colder including the wind-chill factor.
Children should not be left unattended at bus stops for any period of time, under any circumstances. They should have clear instructions on how long to wait for the bus and what to do if the bus does not arrive.
Families should ensure that they have back-up care arrangements if transportation is delayed. Children should have a warm place to stay before and after school (i.e. with a neighbor or a nearby relative).
We respect parents/guardians' right to make their own decisions about sending their children to school. If your child will not be attending classes, please ensure you contact the school attendance line to report the absence.
Transportation Delays
With changing weather conditions, roads may also be congested and slippery resulting in possible traffic and bus delays. Unusually cold or stormy weather can result in buses being delayed. Unexpected mechanical problems with the bus may also occur more frequently at this time of year. Children should be dressed appropriately for the colder weather as buses cool off very quickly.
You can use the MyBusStop web application GPS tracking service to see real-time information and route delays. Please note, real-time information may not always be available, but the app will still have posted delays.
