This is a wonderful time of the year to get together with friends and family to celebrate and be thankful for all the wonderful people in our lives. During this time of Thanksgiving, I want to share my gratitude for being a part of the Simon Fraser School community. On behalf of the team here at Fraser, I would like to thank you for your continued support and wish you all a safe and happy long weekend.

Inform| Staffing Changes

It is with mixed emotions I announce the departure of Blair Reid for the remainder of the school year. Mr. Reid has brought much talent and enthusiasm to his role as PE teacher and basketball coach. Mr. Reid will be back at Simon Fraser School for the 2025-2026 school year.

Please help us welcome back Jure Pikal to the Fraser team who will take over the PE portion of the position.

A huge thank you to Coaches Craig, Murray and Strange for stepping up to lead the senior boys' basketball team.

Inform| Individual Program Plans (IPPs):

IPP’s should have gone home this week. Please review, sign and return your child’s signed IPP, as soon as possible. If changes are required, please reach out to lojohnson@cbe.ab.ca and we will facilitate a meeting with your child’s teaching team.

Making a positive difference in the world one initiative at a time…

Simon Fraser School is partnering up with the non-profit organization Jacket Racket to provide clean, gently used winter gear to Calgarians. The project will run from October 11 to November 22. Please do not go out and buy anything new, we are asking families to look in their own households for any gently used coats, snow pants, hats, mittens, toques or boots that your children have outgrown, or you no longer need.  Any and all sizes from baby to adult will be accepted. We thank you so much for your support!

Grade 9 Leadership students is running a Food Drive in support of The Calgary Food Bank and the Veterans Food Bank of Alberta!  From now until November 7th we are collecting non-perishable items such as canned meats and veggies, pasta, rice, peanut butter, baby formula, toiletries, and hygiene products. Your student can bring their donations to their homeroom teacher over the coming weeks, every donation helps families and veterans in need. Thank you for supporting our students as they work to make a difference in their community.
