As we begin planning for the 2025–26 school year, we want to acknowledge the importance of children having varied learning experiences with a range of peers and teaching styles. In most cases, making a specific placement request is not necessary and not usually in the best interest of the student, as it may limit these valuable growth opportunities.
That said, we understand there may be circumstances where families feel it is important to share information that could support their child’s success next year. While we do our best to consider parent/guardian input, we cannot guarantee that all requests are honoured.
When creating class lists, our goal is to make balanced learning environments that support the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students. In doing so, we consider several factors, including learning needs, peer dynamics, and teacher input.
If you wish to make a classroom placement request, please keep the following in mind:
- Requests should focus on your own child’s individual learning needs (academic, social-emotional, etc.).
 - Requests involving peers will only be considered if there is a demonstrated positive and productive working relationship between the students.
 - Please remember that other families may have different requests, and students you mention may have different needs or placements being considered.
 - All requests must be submitted using the form in the link provided. Verbal requests or emails sent to teachers, or the school office will not be considered.
 - The deadline to complete the request form is Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 6:00 PM. Requests submitted after this deadline will not be considered.

As we review your input, we will consider it through the lens of what is best for your child and the learning environment as a whole.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Update| Grade 6 Lunchroom Changes
As we prepare students for next year, we are moving our grade 6 students from eating in their classroom to eating in the cafeteria. Parents, guardians and students need to be aware of the following:
- Students will eat in the south side of the cafeteria for the remainder of the school year. They are not permitted to eat with grade 7 to 9 students
 - If students are having difficulty following rules, the student code of conduct, or supervisor instructions, they will lose their right to eat in the space
 - When dismissed for the second half of lunch, students will deposit their lunch kit in their assigned classroom bin and proceed outside through the external portable doors

Please take time this weekend to go over this information with your child, so they are aware of the changes and expectations.
Remind| Responsible Choices When Off-campus
Our Grade 7, 8 and 9 students are reminded to make safe and responsible decisions when off-campus during the lunch break. With the spring weather, more division three students are choosing to access the privilege to leave campus during the lunch break. Students should be safe and responsible when doing so.
When purchasing from local businesses please ask students to refrain from purchasing candy, energy drinks, pop, family sized chips and other snack foods.
Water toys (i.e. water guns) and large sized toys are not allowed to be used inside the school or on school property, including the school bus.
We appreciate our parents’ and guardians’ support with this issue.
