Inform| Pink Shirt Day
In response to a new Grade 9 student being bullied for wearing a pink shirt, two Nova Scotia high school students took a stand against bullying by distributing pink shirts to all the boys in their school to wear. This act of kindness has grown into a symbol against bullying in schools across the globe.
On Wednesday, Feb. 26, wear a pink shirt to help spread kindness and a sense of belonging!
Promoting inclusion is something that occurs in our schools every day. Check out some of the information and resources available!

Inform| Lunch and Snack Waste
School lunches can generate a lot of waste. Cutting back on food waste and single-use packaging can have a big impact on the environment. According to the Recycling Council of Ontario, “the average student’s school lunch creates about 30 kilograms of waste per year”.
Families are encouraged to pack waste-free lunches or consider a boomerang lunch where students bring all the waste home from their lunches. This includes all packaging and food waste. The purpose of a boomerang lunch is not to transfer waste disposal from school to home, but to provide parents with first-hand knowledge of the eating habits and preferences of their children. School staff see a huge amount of uneaten food go into the garbage day after day. This is not only wasteful but also expensive.
