It has been a wonderful start to the 2024-2025 school year at Simon Fraser School! Over the past two days, students spent time getting to know the building, their teachers, and new classmates. It was awesome to have life and energy back in school!

Remind| Picture Day
Picture Day is a chance to capture a snapshot of school memories, with everyone dressed in their best and ready to shine for the camera! Simon Fraser School will host Picture Day on September 4, 2024.

Parents and community members are important partners in public education. Through the School Council, our partners can make significant and meaningful contributions to the learning opportunities provided for Simon Fraser students.
You are warmly invited to the first School Council meeting of the 2024-25 school year on Monday, September 23, at 6:30 PM, in-person, at Simon Fraser School.
Inform| Wellness Initiatives
Our first Wellness initiative takes place on Friday, September 13th. At Simon Fraser, we use this day to develop strong connections between peers and teach important skills to foster and maintain healthy relationships.
We will spend the day in our homeroom groups participating in team building activities to nurture a community of trust, openness and of course fun. For this day to run smoothly and for teachers to engage with their students and participate with them, we are requesting parent volunteers to help run the activities and stations.
Inform| Terry Fox Run
On Thursday, September 12th, Simon Fraser School is hosting our annual Terry Fox Day! We are excited to raise money this year through our Toonies for Terry initiative.
On this day, students will learn about Terry’s impacts, followed by a neighborhood run. This day will be a celebration of why your child runs for Terry. Please ensure your student is dressed for the weather, wears sunscreen/appropriate shoes and has a water bottle. Students should come to school in comfortable clothes.

Request| Student Handbook
Over the past two days, teachers reviewed the Simon Fraser School Handbook with students. This handbook contains a lot of information. Parents/guardians are asked to review information in this handbook, sign and return the back page by September 6, 2024.
Request| Health Forms
Students who become ill during school hours should inform their teacher and report to the office. Staff will then contact parents to have them pick up their child or give permission for him/her to go home. Students are not permitted to leave the school without parental permission. Remember to keep our office up to date with any changes in contact information.
Student Health Emergency Response Protocol Form
This form is to be used when there is a student health issue regarding attention. This includes when there is a request to administer medication.
This form is to be completed if:
- A physical or medical condition may affect the student's attendance at school
- Medication is to be taken at school,
Forms must be reviewed and updated annually or sooner if there is a change in the student's health concern or school registration.
Request| Staffing Information
Schools are funded based on student enrollment numbers. We kindly ask families whose students may not be attending Simon Fraser School, please contact the main office by Thursday September 5, 24 to let us know. This includes students who may be on extended holidays.

This week, we are jumping into soccer/basketball tryouts and practices for the cross-country team. Students wishing to try out for teams need to have their annual athletic form signed and handed in before attending tryouts.
