A special shout-out to everyone who helped make this week’s junior basketball tournament a success: 

  • Families who drove and ran quick snack runs 
  • Coaches and staff who gave extra hours to prepare our athletes 
  • Student leaders who set up, kept score, and cleaned up 
  • Spectators who modeled positive sportsmanship from the stands 

Events like this showcase what makes our community so special: teamwork, respect, and pride in our Flames.  

Remind| Labour Action 

At this time, the CBE is preparing for an Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA) strike beginning on Monday, Oct. 6. Here is what this means for CBE families:  

  • All classes will be cancelled. Do not send your child to school.  
  • Transportation will be cancelled. Do not leave your child at a bus stop.    
  • All school athletics, trips and extracurricular activities will be suspended or cancelled.  
  • A decision was made today, October 3/25, that students will have access to D2L and Google classroom throughout labour action. Teachers will not be monitoring, responding to or assessing student work during the strike.

Remind| Casino 

Simon Fraser School has been awarded a fundraising casino – and we need your help to make it a success!   

📍 Location: Ace Casino Airport 📅 October 14th and 15th   

Our last casino raised essential funds that directly supported student programs and enrichment opportunities. No police clearance is needed, and any adult (18+) can volunteer — so feel free to recruit family, friends, and neighbors!  Only a couple of vital spots left to fill.... We are still short 2 Volunteers for October 15th.

Remind| Healthy Hunger 

Thank you for placing Fun Lunch orders! Please note: Due to the labour action all Healthy Hunger lunches have been cancelled for the month of October.  If you ordered, please ensure you cancel orders through Healthy Hunger ASAP.

Remind| Spectators at Tonight’s Basketball Tournaments 

As a reminder, student spectators are not permitted to attend tonight’s tournament games unless they are directly supervised by their parent or guardian. This expectation is in place to ensure a safe and positive environment for all participants and families. 

We appreciate your support in reinforcing this guideline with your child.

Picture Retakes have been cancelled and vaccines are cancelled. We will inform families when these events will be re-sceduled.
