Invite| Overview of High School Presentation

As grade 9 students begin preparing for the transition to high school, we know this is an exciting time that often comes with many questions. To help address some of these questions ahead of upcoming conferences, Simon Fraser School will be hosting a virtual High School Overview Presentation.

This session is designed to provide a general overview of high school programs, course options, and the registration process, helping to alleviate many of the questions that typically arise during conference conversations. Please see below for information:

Inform| Staffing News

We are excited to welcome Stacey Bristow as our new office assistant starting on Monday, November 17th, 2025. You will find Stacey helping students, staff and families in the main office to keep things running smoothly at Simon Fraser School.

Inform| School Conferences

School Conferences are an opportunity to engage in conversation about your child’s learning. During School Conferences, parents/guardians and teachers are able to communicate openly about student learning, especially with respect to areas of strength and areas of growth. They help build and sustain respectful relationships that allow both parties to share information and develop strategies to support student success.

Simon Fraser Fall School Conferences take place on:

  • In-Person: Thursday November 27th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm
  • Virtual: Friday November 28th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

Conferences must be booked via MyCBE. The system opens for booking on Wednesday November 19th at 8:00 am and closes on Wednesday November 26th at 12:00 pm. If you require support booking a school conference, please refer to this site

You can request an interpreter to help with communication during conferences. Having an interpreter at a meeting will improve everyone’s understanding of the discussion. There is no cost to families for language interpretation services.  For more information on this service, please contact your child’s teacher.

Inform| Individual Program Plans

IPP’s will be sent home on Wednesday November 19. If you have signed the form to receive the document electronically, please look for an email from your child’s homeroom teacher on Wednesday evening. If you have not signed the form to receive the IPP through email, please look in your child’s backpack on Wednesday afternoon for the printed document. Please review and sign the document and return it via email or through your child to their homeroom teacher. Thank you for your partnership in learning.

Remind| Supporting Positive Online Behavior

We want to take a moment to share an important reminder about social media use. Recently, we have noticed an increase in negative interactions happening on various social media platforms, particularly TikTok. While much of this activity takes place outside of school hours, it often impacts students’ well-being and can carry over into the school day.

We encourage families to regularly monitor and check their child’s online activity and digital accounts. Staying aware of what platforms your child is using, and how they are interacting with others, goes a long way in supporting safe and respectful online behavior.

Please also note that most social media platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat, have a minimum age requirement of 13 years and older.

Thank you for your partnership in helping our students navigate the online world safely and responsibly. If you ever have questions or need support, please feel free to reach out.
