Good afternoon families,

February 17 marks Lunar New Year, a significant cultural celebration observed by many communities across Canada and around the world. Often referred to as the Spring Festival, Chinese New Year, Tết by Vietnamese communities, or Seollal by Korean communities, this celebration holds deep cultural and historical meaning for many Southeast Asian Communities and Canadians. It is one of the most widely recognized and joyfully observed events globally, Welcome the Year of the Horse!

"Caught you being kind" is back once students return from the Family Day long weekend. It will run from the 17th to the 26th.

High School Transfers are open for applications if your student is looking for a specific program or sequence of courses not offered at your designated high school. Please visit this site for more information and applications. The transfer process closes on March 15th

Inform| Student Surveys

Alberta Education Assurance Survey

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing a world-class education for Alberta’s children, Alberta Education and Childcare will be conducting our annual survey of grades 4, 7 and 10 students and their parents or guardians. The survey will gather important information about students’ and parents’ school experiences and will help to inform continuous improvement in our education system.

Students in grade 7 will complete the survey at school during the month of February.

  • Students are provided with a single-use access code to log in and complete the survey confidentially.
  • Students can skip questions for any reason and may opt out of the survey at any point.
  • You can see examples of the survey questions your child receives online at www.alberta.ca/alberta-educationassurance-survey

CBE Survey

In alignment with CBE’s Education Plan, the results are used in school and district reports to demonstrate that students are at the centre of all CBE decisions; able to integrate and apply the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and competencies they are acquiring across all academic disciplines; and demonstrating Citizenship, Personal Development and Character in and through learning.

The CBE survey allows students to voice their feedback on their experiences at school, the school environment, and school improvement programs. Based on their feedback, students have the opportunity to be involved in action plans fostering increased student engagement.

Students in grades 5, 6, 8, and 9 will complete the survey at school during the months of February and March.

  • The survey is anonymous.
  • Students can skip questions for any reason and may opt out of the survey at any point.
  • Students have the opportunity to report on themselves, their own abilities, and their accomplishments; and take pride in what they have achieved.

Remind| Water Bottle

This is a friendly reminder to please send your child to school each day with a refillable water bottle. Staying hydrated helps students focus, regulate energy levels, and fully participate in their learning throughout the day.

We have water filling stations available in the school, but students need their own bottle to access them efficiently. Having a labeled bottle also helps prevent mix-ups.

Thank you for helping your child come prepared and ready to learn each day!
