Invite| Open Houses

We are pleased to invite new families for the 2026-2027 school year to join us for one of our two upcoming Open House events.

Both open houses will offer the same information, displays, and opportunities to connect with staff, so families only need to attend one session.

To help us manage crowd sizes and create a comfortable experience for everyone, we encourage families, when possible, to consider attending our afternoon Open House on April 17 from 1:30–3:00 pm. We look forward to welcoming families at either session and appreciate your support in helping us balance attendance across both events.

Remind| Digital Devices

We would like to provide an important reminder regarding the use of personal technology at school.

Under the Alberta Ministerial Order on the Restriction of Personal Mobile Devices in Schools (2024), students are not permitted to use personal mobile devices during instructional time. This includes devices that can record, photograph, or communicate in ways that may compromise learning environments or the privacy of others.

Students are expected to put devices in their lockers and be powered off if brought to school.  Please read the CBE Away for the Day FAQ, which was created at the direction of a Ministerial Order.

Remind| Social Media

We all know that social media plays a prominent part in the lives of most teens, and it is largely how they communicate with each other on a consistent basis. Unfortunately, we have been made aware of several instances lately where some students have been making negative/inappropriate comments towards each other online. These comments are largely being made in large group chats on Snapchat, Instagram, and/or Tik Tok.

Our CBE The Code of Conduct states that students may be held accountable for behavior that impacts the school beyond the hours of school operation when their conduct detrimentally affects the personal safety and well-being of individuals, the learning environment, or the effective operation of the school.

We are including this note in our weekly message to ask for some support from our parent community. We would encourage all parents/guardians to be aware of their students' online behavior and monitor their social media accounts closely. Some things to consider are:

  • Most social media platforms have age restrictions which is usually 13, although most Canadians support restrictions starting at 16.
  • Do you allow students to have social media accounts?  Have they created one without you knowing?
  • Do you know what accounts they have and how to use them? (Snapchat, Instagram, Discord, Tik Tok, What's App, etc...)
  • Most importantly - if your child does have access to technology and/or social media - are you aware of what they are doing on those apps?

Please check in with your child to make sure you know which social media apps and platforms they are using and talk with them about how to make sure their online interactions are positive. We appreciate your support. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school.

Remind| Lunch Expectations

Please remind students that they are to be outside or under the direct supervision of an adult during the second half of lunch. We are seeing several students choosing to roam the halls and hide from supervisors during this time which is causing issues in the school.
